BKK produces smaller rhizomes (slender fingers); however its higher content in curcumin makes it suitable for medicinal purposes besides its culinary uses. Flesh is dark orange.

Unless you are living in the southern states, I would recommend to grow them in pots, for easier moving indoor for winter protection and harvest. Harvest after plants turn yellow and die back, although young rhizomes can also be used.
Grow in full sun or part shade, well drained and fertile soil. Don’t over water and grow them in a warm spot will add growth. Bring the container indoors when outdoor temperature drop below 50.
